Longing for Winter to come

It has been a couple of days since the latest teasers were released for the 6th season of the Emmy Award winning behemoth that is Game of Thrones. Clearly I am way too excited for the season to start and various cliffhangers from last season to be resolved. The chief among them being the mystery of Jon Snow’s parentage and whether it would have any impact on the overall story arc of Westeros.

However, the manner in which HBO and GOT’s promotional team has been able to keep the embers of Jon Snow Dead or Alive debate on low burn, is rather commendable, even more so is the shift in focus to the rise of Sansa (Finally) as the possible rallying point for the north. I am feverishly excited about the Tower of Joy flashback and all the visions and prophecies that would be brought to screen courtesy the Three Eyed Raven and Bran. Wow, the fight sequence from the teasers look absolutely pulsating. Add to it the breathtaking scane of Drogon flying over the Dothraki and the possibility of Frey pies at the Red Wedding 2. I am not even going to talk about the exploration of Land of always Winter and the impending attack of the White Walkers or when winter finally arrives to chill the bones of every castellan in Westeros.

Whether GRR Martin manages to release winds of winter by the end of this year or not, for me this season is going to be the most gratifying bit of television I have watched in a long time. May the many faced god have mercy on us and grant us with a resurrection or two and may the Battle of the Bastards finally usher in a time for wolves. Albeit, only GRRM knows whats the deal with the white walkers, and would the merry band of finally reunited Starks be able to lead Westeros through the long night. Although spring is here, I cant help but long for Winter to finally arrive on the 24th of April 2016.
